Kids Club Wind-up Pt 3

Kids Club Wind-up Part 2

This is a video of the Kids Club children singing Happy Birthday to Mr Man. You can see all the children (in both this video and the last video) wearing their "Joseph Shirts" which they made themselves.

Kids Club Wind-up Performance

For the last year, the children have participated in a Kids Club at a local church. This is a video of the children performing the songs they have learnt. Unfortunately, Little Man was sick, so he was not there.

The Reading Adventures Continue

Little Miss does not want to be outdone by her avid reading brother. Mr Man now has 30 entries in his Book Log (30 chapters read or equivilant). But Little Miss has 28 entries in her Book Log (28 short story books), and is 1/2 way through her next story! Way to go Little Miss!!

Remembrance Week

This week in our homeschool, we have done a short unit study on "Remembrance Day" / "Poppy Day" / "Remembering Sunday". All of those are terms which are used to refer to November 11 (as well as the Sunday following/ near to Remembrance Day itself).

We discussed the Wars a bit and talked about why we have a Remembrance Day now. We also read the poem by John McCrae (In Flanders Fields), and talked about the symbol of the poppy and what it meant to the soldiers and what it means to us today.

Then we made a poster for our own symbol of Remembrance.

All of the children helped to create the poster - Mr Man drew the "poppy field" on the bottom right of the poster as well as writing out the first stanza to the _In Flanders Fields_ poem (at the top right of the poster). Little Miss drew the large poppy on the top left of the poster as well as writing out the second stanza of the _In Flanders Fields_ poem (directly under her poppy flower). And Little Man drew the poppy flower on the bottom left of the poster. (The Mrs wrote out the third and final stanza of the poem). And all of the children drew and cut out the little red poppy flowers on the centre of the poster.

They all worked very hard - and I think this poster really gives us a lot to think about!

A parcel from my Secret Sister!

I participate in an online Christian mom's group... and I signed up to take part in the "Secret Sister" project this time around. We are supposed to pray for our Secret Sister and send her encouraging cards, letters and /or gifts.

Well the dear sweet lady who had me sent me a lovely parcel the other day filled with wonderful homemade gifts for myself and the children!

Here we are "showing them off" ;)

As you can see the children were VERY pleased with their gifts!

Mr Man reads his first novel!

Mr Man is an avid reader... but hasn't much cared for "chapter books" until now. With a little bit of incentive (£££!!! LOL), he has finished reading his first chapter book!!

_The Children of Willow Farm_ by Enid Blyton --- 23 chapters!

(Mr Man earned exactly £1 for reading this book. The top picture was taken by Little Miss while he was reading).

A gift for Baby "O".... and one for Baby Bean too!

On Oct 19, my life-long friend "B" had her 3rd baby boy!! Congratulations to "B" and her family!! "Baby O" was born at 32 weeks and was 4lbs, 14oz. After just a short week and a 1/2 in the hospital, "Baby O" is now home with his big brothers and mom and dad! Way to go "O"!!

I just had to make a "little something" to celebrate the momentous news - so I whipped up a little sweater set for "Baby O"

And since it was so fun and easy to make this sweater set - I did one for Baby Bean too!

Of course if Baby Bean is a girl... this may not be to her fashion taste! LOL
