Greyfriars Pt 2

An irony of the Greyfriars Bobby, is that there was (and is) a sign on the kirkyard gate saying NO DOGS ALLOWED. (Kirk is the Scottish term for church).

Greyfriars

We read a cute (true) story about a little dog in Edinburgh's history called Greyfriar's Bobby. His owner was a police man, and he was a police dog and would go with him on his owner's rounds. When the owner died the dog was distraught at his loss and would come everyday to sit on his master's grave. He then became known as "Greyfriar's Bobby", after the churchyard.

Urquhart Castle Pt 2

Urquhart Castle & Loch Ness

When we arrived at Urquhart Castle (pr. erk-heart), we discovered there was a re-enactment of a castle siege happening. There were lots of cannons firing and muskets firing - the plumes of smoke you see around the castle are REAL plumes from the cannons and muskets.

In the background of Urquhart Castle, is Loch Ness. It sure makes for a stunning backdrop.
